Photography attempts to capture the essence of a single moment in time. Edward S. Curtis spent years in the western US documenting these moments with his camera. He said:

I am no Ansel Adams nor am I an Edward S. Curtis, but I feel that their work and mine are aligned. The visions I see are mine, and when I can capture the lighthouse, the butterfly, the starry skies and live with it for awhile, then share it with you, I feel like we have now shared that moment that will never live again, that will live always in the image, the memory.
